Dylan Baker Returning for Spider-Man 4

UGO reports that Dylan Baker confirmed last night at a Trick 'r Treat screening in New York that he'll be back as Dr. Curt Connors in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4.

There's been a lot of speculation that Connors will finally become The Lizard in the fourth installment, but Baker said that he had just gotten his first call about the film that very day.

The site says that Trick 'r Treat director Michael Dougherty ribbed him about "just appearing in the background," and Baker said that's what he'd be doing. It is, of course, unknown if Baker can say anything at this point, so it might be too early to take that as a fact.

Columbia Pictures is planning a May 5, 2011 release in conventional and IMAX theaters.

i watched the evil dead last night for the first time in years and forgot how terrific it was, especially when you consider they had a small budget and raimi was in his twenties. the 4th spiderman sucked so clearly they cant do any worse. drag me to hell was amazing though and last night got me thinking ... lets bring ash back and have battle some more demons. anyone besides me who wants to see this?

Maybe he'll be the Lizard for the introduction of the movie, just showing Spidey in action - letting us know he's been doing his crimefighting thing since the last movie - then move on to the real story/villian of the movie.

That's how I think it should be, I can't see the Lizard being able to carry the whole movie.

With all the rumors going on i can see the storyline going something like this -

Lizard finally emerges and Kraven the Hunter (Bruce Campbell) looking for that ultimate hunt comes to town to try and kill him. Spiderman being the whole non-killing type and also knowing who the Lizard really is wont let Kraven do it and will try and stop him. Spiderman will defeat the lizard without killing him making him the perfect target for Kraven and this will lead into the 5th movie.

I agree...though I'd personally love to see the film end with a cliffhanger, something akin to the 'Kraven's Last Hunt' story that ran in the comics (and my all-time favorite Spidey tale)...with Spidey managing to rescue Dr. Connors from himself (as well as the authorities?), then having Kraven ebgage in the hunt for Spidey, ultimately bagging him and burying him alive at the end of the film and setting up the subsequent installment.

That means, of course, that two films would feature Kraven, which admittedly may be more than audiences are willing to put up with, but I'm not sure how to stitch it up neater than that (unless the burial occurs 2/3 of the way through the film and ends up being resolved in the final act...but that seems rather crowded).

A lizard? That's supposed to get my attention? Why not just have a psychopathic armadillo while you're at it?

Hehe...stupid comic nerds.
