Rob Hardy to Helm Stomp the Yard 2

October 22, 2009

It's interesting that just yesterday we posted our coverage of the set visit for Armored which took place February 26 of 2008. While we were on-set, Columbus Short was asked specifically about a sequel to Stomp the Yard. We quote...

Q: Have you talked at all about another "Stomp the Yard"?
Short: Oh, no. I wouldn't be in it.

Q: You wouldn't?
Short: No. Come on! Some things are better left alone. I've learned that. I had my share of a sequel. I was in the "Save the Last Dance" sequel. That was cool. You've got to work your way up. (Laughs)

Fast forward to today and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that writer/director Rob Hardy will helm the sequel, to be titled Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming.

The trade says that Short is now in negotiations to reprise his role as DJ, a master street dancer.

The sequel is set to shoot early next month in Atlanta.

As a black man I must say there is no need for a sequel.

ROTFLMFAO@ Columbus Short! Guess hes still working his way up:) Why the F is this movie even being considered?? I have a better idea - they take all of the money that they are planning on using, put it in a burlap sack, set it on fire and let us watch. Im sure it would be WAY more entertaining

Umm...why? Because the first one is the best dance movie of the decade. End of story.

Thank you comingsoon for TCBin', this made my morning.

Now...next order of business: Find out if there are any rumblings of a This Christmas sequel.

I'll admit that the first one had way better acting than any of the other dance flicks that hollywood has crapped out in awhile. But I wouldn't see the next one in theaters... maybe if someone had a bootleg copy and just happened to be playing it when I came over..

Here we go AGAINNNN with an inability to be original! There is no concrete reason to do a d*** sequel! WHY! Are there no more African American writers out there who can come up with something NEW! I'm ready to take the blue pill because Hollywood and I see now Black Hollywood too is back to being mental! Whats next Brown Sugar 2? Give me a break! Chris Columbo you need to go over your past interviews and keep up with your statements. So in the words of Dat dude said but in my own terms, "as a black woman this is some BULLLish!"

As a white man I'd have to say there's no need for any dance movie.

Where's Honey part 2 at?
