Law and De Niro Board Thor Too?

The superhero movie rumors continue this weekend with word from Ain't It Cool News that actor Matthias Schweighöfer (Valkyrie) told the German edition of GQ magazine that he's in the running for a role in director Kenneth Branagh's Thor and that Jude Law and Robert De Niro have also joined the cast.

If true, the trio would be joining Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard in the comic book adaptation scheduled for a release on May 20, 2011.

If DeNiro's playing Odin, that may be one of the most inspired casting choices in history. Fella can hope, right?

Law's likely Baldur and a good choice in and of itself.

So awesome!! There may be some truth to the rumors about Law and De Niro, Branagh has worked with them both before.
Also Matthias Schweighöfer is a promising actor as well.

This could be one of the greatest Superhero movies of all-time. I don't think it too early to say that. Great Actors, Great Director, Great Writers.
Its getting into Batman Begins territory, already. For Real

This might be the equivelent of Marlon Brando's portrayal of Superman's father in the original movie....and if Thor can compare to that....then that is a good thing.

De Niro? The guy's a hack, one who's been in nothing but crap for years. Goodfellas was garbage, Taxi Driver was boring and pretentious, and Once Upon a Time in America... well, that's better left unspoken. Righteous Kill was his only good movie, and Pacino carried his ass all the way through. This movie just reached direct-to-DVD level.
