I thought the re-make of the first movie was set in the "current" date? I'm not sure how they can move this along that make it interesting. "
Nah, it was set in the 70's. But one would be hard pressed to tell that because they were more concerned with the main characters looking "hot" than have them wear proper 70's attire. Lots of low-rise jeans in that one, which didn't really come around until the late 90's.
I also thought the original remake (sounds ridiculous) was set in current time... I don't recall there being any real distinction in the movie that would make the year matter anyway.
