Spierig Brothers Talk Daybreakers

Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig talked about writing and directing the horror film Daybreakers in a new Q&A posted at ShockTillYouDrop.com. Opening in theaters on January 8th, the film stars Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Claudia Karvan, Michael Dorman, Vince Colosimo, Isabel Lucas and Sam Neill.

Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.

I like Hawke's work in other films. He's an underated actor. I'm sure it's gonna be a good movie.

From IMDB trivia for Blade 3:

"An early idea by David S. Goyer for the film was to be set many years after the events of the last film, where vampires finally had achieved world domination and enslaved all humans, with Blade being the last hope for humanity. Blade's slower aging could be explained by his vampire blood. The storyline was deemed too dark and was later dropped."
