Most of the Voice Cast Set for Marmaduke

Apparently, 20th Century Fox has covertly found most of the voice cast for their upcoming movie based on Brad Anderson's popular comic strip Marmaduke, which will be a mix of live action and CG-animated creatures similar to Fox's previous family hits Garfield and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Directed by Tom Dey (Failure to Launch), the movie was shot in Vancouver over the summer and is currently scheduled for a release on June 4, 2010.

To date, only Judy Greer had been mentioned to play Debbie Winslow in the movie, while Lee Pace from "Pushing Daisies" is playing Phil Winslow, but a small throwaway piece in Variety about Anjelah Johnson joining the cast, mentioned some of the voice cast and with a little more searching around, we found a very long list of those involved with providing voices for various animated characters in the movie, none of whom we know anything about except for their names:

Amanda Seyfried voices "Mazie," Jeremy Piven is "Bosco," Ron Perlman plays "Chupadogra," Christopher Mintz-Plasse (aka "McLovin") is "Guiseppe," while Black Eyed Peas singer Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson is "Jezebel." Steve Coogan voices "Raisin," George Lopez is "Carlos" and Damon Wayans Jr. provides the voice for "Thunder."

The original comic strip about a family and their Great Dane has been published fairly regularly since 1954, and it spawned a series of cartoons in 1980.

What the hell kind of name is "Marmaduke" anyway?!

I've always wanted to ask but never could find the proper forum in which to do so. Thank you Fox! :D

the guy from Carpoolers who played Marmaduke should definitely be in this.
He was also eaten by the Cloverfield monster.

Marmaduke is a terrible comic strip! Doesn't need to be made into a movie. But dog movies are guaranteed money, so they'll always get made. Even Beverly Hills Chihuahua made a big profit.

Now Calvin and Hobbes, that's a strip that needs a movie. Or Dilbert. it would be a lot like Office Space.

Shot in Vancouver? I saw a large crew shooting at Zuma beach in Malibu, yesterday... The signs all read Marmaduke and there was HUGE great dane... Probably some other movie.

That prompts the question--when will Hollywood release a movie based on The Family Circus? I could see Julia Roberts as Mommy, Will Farrell as Daddy, Russi Taylor doing the voices of Billy, Jeffy and Dolly and Frank Welker doing the voices of PJ, Barfy and Sam (the dogs) and Kittycat (a feline-duh!). The dead Grandpa could be done by Steve Martin. And as for "Uncle Roy" (a "very special friend" of Daddy) he could be voiced by Elton John.

Hoby X, I worked on the Marmaduke set in Vancouver... Filming wrapped a couple weeks ago. So, yeah.

The wrap party was fun. Open bar, chocolate fondue... William H Macy had to leave early, though. He's sort of old, so I didn't question it.
