Iron Man 2 to Come at You in 3D?

September 2, 2009

Ain't It Cool News is reporting the rumor that Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios are considering releasing Iron Man 2 in 3D format, and possibly the first Iron Man as well. Here's an except from the article:

Right now, there is a 1 minute demo of IRON MAN 2 converted to high quality digital 3D. I'm told this one minute is totally like Kim Basinger & Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 WEEKS. HOT! Crazy Hot! Right now the Suits at Marvel & Paramount & now also Disney are considering this 1 minute.

At the same time that this is happening, they are fishing for bids with 3 different companies to see what the cost and time it would take to convert IRON MAN 2 to a complete 3D film. This same process is being done to Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND - but if this comes to pass. What will this mean for the rest of Marvel's slate leading to THE AVENGERS? Will THOR & CAPTAIN AMERICA also go through this process? Or will they be shot from the get go in 3D.

Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

It'd only have two weeks though...and what two weeks it would be.

But man, Digital 3D just gets bigger and bigger.

I hope if this does happen it fails. I'm blind in one eye with no depth perception so I don't get to participate in the 3D and I also don't like having to pay extra for something I don't get to see. BOO to the whole 3D fad, I hope it goes down in flames.

Why the hell would you dumb shlts talk **** about 3d....it's not as if you can't go watch it in 2d.
Get over your stupid "I must bash everything" mentality.
You have a CHOICE.

I'll be ok with 3D if they do the converstion as well as the Final Destination which was done well in 3D. Not saying anything about the movie itself. It will need to go that well and also if it does not delay the release of the movie then I will be fine with it. Otherwise just keep it in 2D.

The Suits at Disney don't have any say in the matter yet.

Disney doesn't own Marvel yet. They still have to get approval of the shareholders of both companies, and a legal investigation has to be launched to determine that the merger isn't an antitrust type deal.

Why all the bashing over 3D?

Seriously, the reason 3D didn't work in the 80s was cause it wasn't developed well enough.
Now it is, i mean, it's not a coincidence that we can make holograms that we can touch (or that feels the touch of our skin, i.e Minority Report/Iron Man) so thats why 3D has come back.
Because now we can actually do something cool with it.
