Warner Bros. and Hollywood Gang Productions have hired Shoot 'Em Up helmer Michael Davis to direct Outland, a remake of the 1981 Sean Connery sci-fi film.

The drama revolves around a police marshal stationed at a remote mining colony on Jupiter's moon Io, where he uncovers a murderous conspiracy threatening the entire Outland with collapse.

Variety says Chad St. John will write the script.

Wow, a movie I've been saying should be remade for years now! Sweet. The original's good, but with today's technology there's so much potential for this to kick ass.

I agree, the guy that did Moon would be great.

I hope they use a better spacesuit design in the remake, rather than the stupid design that had the inside of the helmet ringed with lights, effectively rendering someone blind if actually used.

Hey wayyyyy to go hollywood - yet another pointless remake. Of course I don't blame you, but blame the brainless morons who PAY to go see all these tepid 'reimaginings' which have no heart or soul.

Finally a remake that could be good. First one was low-budget and not successful. That's when you remake or reboot.

With that said, there is a lot of Sci-fi books out there that would make cool movies. But that would require originality of thought. Which Hollywood does not have.

This is getting silly, there is what three remakes announced today. Outland itself is based on another movie (High Noon).

For all that it is old now, Outland is a very good film. What on earth are they going to do with it to improve things.
