Microsoft Says Halo Film Still on Hold

Source:Kotaku

Over the weekend, a rumor was posted saying that Steven Spielberg is in talks to produce Halo: The Fall of Reach, screenwriter Stuart Beattie's adaptation of the Eric Nylund novel.

Kotaku contacted Microsoft to try to get a confirmation but instead were told the project is "on hold":

We're glad there's still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a Halo movie. That said, the Halo feature film remains on hold as we focus on projects like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.

Do you think Microsoft should move forward with a "Halo" movie?

Yes...... just get on with it already. If you wait too long the idea might die out. grab it while people such as Spielberg are interested.

do the movie, no game.
stop making people wait. Microsoft should have stopped with the games after Halo 3 or wars to start the movie.

I think they should. This movie has been in development hell for a while now. At this point it's really a go/no-go thing. An origin story could really add some much needed depth to Master Chief.

It's not going to happen if Disney is involved like the original report

This sounds like a good move on their part, I mean they already pissed on the chance to have Peter Jackson involved so they might as well blow off Steven Freaking Spielberg as well and just wait to make this film with McG at a future time when we all no longer give a damn about Halo anymore. Microsoft once again proves they do only 2 things really well:

1. Make dumb-ass decisions

2. Be greedy to the point of complete sadness.

Yes they should. If there's one movie that can break the video game adaptation curse it's Halo. I'm sure back in the day they said no book could be adapted into movies or plays. Or how about comic books. Look at them now. Any movie can be good with the right people behind it.

And it's not like Microsoft is making it. "Wanting to focus on ODST." I could fertilize the lawn with that. Considering it's being released in a month, and Bungie's doing the work, the multi-billion dollar M$ could get a few people to start something in film.

I don't think they should move forward with a Halo movie, until Monopoly, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Battleship and LEGO: The Movie are all in the can. After that, give Halo to Uwe Boll, who has proven himself on video game adaptations.
