Based on the trailer, it appears that the film will be a ho hum horror film, without the humanity of the novel. Sad. I really loved the book.

The behind the scenes feature gives an entirely different slant to the film.

So, what are we to believe? Peter's words, or the evidence of the trailer?

When I saw the trailer in the theater yesterday, the audience for Julie and Julia, an important part of a natural audience for Lovely Bones, reacted with disdain and murmured disappointment. Several people around me said it appeared the book they loved had been exploited without any sensibility to the story and turned into a horror film for teens.

I'm not gonna make any conclusions based on a trailer that was cut together of a 2 hour film. OBviously...the movie's going to be deeply emotional and Peter & Co. seem to be very passionate about it and he said he bawled like a baby throughout reading

To say the movie's not going to have any "humanity" based on that is ridiculous.

Okay. I don't think Peter Jackson made a "horror" movie. The movie has a lot of money put into it, and they need mainstream audiences to come and see it to ensure they make profit. How is this done? By making the movie look EXCITING! They have to pull people in. -- I'm sure the lighter side of the novel is in the movie. Just, usually, light movies don't attract large audiences like they need.
