Principal photography is under way on Dark Castle Entertainment's action adventure The Losers (see Comic-Con poster below). The film is based on the comic book series published under DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, and is being directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard).

The Losers features an ensemble cast that includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), Chris Evans ("Fantastic Four" films), Idris Elba (Obsessed, RocknRolla), Columbus Short (Stomp the Yard, upcoming Whiteout), Holt McCallany (Vantage Point), Óscar Jaenada (Che: Part Two) and Jason Patric (In the Valley of Elah).

An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, The Losers centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team—Clay (Morgan), Jensen (Evans), Roque (Elba), Pooch (Short) and Cougar (Jaenada)—find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max (Patric). Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha (Saldana), a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

The screenplay was written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt, based upon comic books written by Andy Diggle and illustrated by Jock. The film is being produced by Joel Silver ("The Matrix" trilogy) and Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend).

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes White's Stomp the Yard director of photography Scott Kevan and editor David Checel, as well as production designer Aaron Osborne (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang), Oscar®-nominated visual effects supervisor Richard Yuricich (Blade Runner, Mission: Impossible II) and costume designer Magali Guidasci (AVP: Alien vs. Predator).

The Losers will shoot entirely on location in Puerto Rico.

The film is scheduled for an April 9, 2010 release and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Sounds almost the same as The Expendables, which has a release date of around the same timeframe. Something's gonna give.

Sounds good. Kind of reminds a little bit of Watchmen.

the first few arcs of losers were awesome. Great action, well written, with intersting characters. If they stick with the source material, I think it will be good. Good cast as well.

I really optimistic and excited about this for some reason. Everyone whose in it that I've heard of has been awesome at some point or another. Hope this and Kick Ass come out back-to-back. Except Kick Ass is gonna be way better.

Derek this is nothing like Expendables, so I;m guessing you have know idea what The Losers or The Expendables really is so shut up. KOZ you the stupidest comment of the day, how in hell is this anything like Watchmen. This movie will hopefully stay true to the books and it has a great cast. I hope its awesome.

sort of like The Expendables? Nah. If anything it slightly reminds me of The A Team (very slightly).

But I am really looking forward to this. After the GL casting went with a generic big name actor. Its good to see a movie with no HUGE HUGE names that like Star Trek was to some actors a proving ground to the general audience (if that makes sense).
Chris Evans= Best part about the FF series

Zoe Saldana= Hot and I thought her character was mad boring in Star Trek so its cool to see her get another big role

Jeffrey Dean Morgan= Always the man

Idris "Stringer" Elba= Always the man

great cast, cool premise. I should buy some of the comics. Any recommendations on where to start?

Also it good to see some fresh faces in big movies then the ones we see all the time

and also
Columbus Short= funny and good actor
