V For Vendetta Helmer on Poe Project

Source:/Film

"The Raven" meets Se7en.

That's how director James McTeigue is describing his next film The Raven, a fictional tale that places author Edgar Allan Poe at the head of a serial killer investigation. The V For Vendetta and Ninja Assassin helmer tells /Film that the project is an "account of the final five 'mysterious' days of Edgar Allan Poe's life. Apparently the famous writer joins the hunt for a serial killer whose murders are inspired by his stories."

The site also got an update on the development of his adaptation of Richard Morgan's sci-fi novel Altered Carbon.

You can read more on both projects here.

Oh that sounds really interesting. I live righ near Poe's home in the Bronx, and it's nice that a local legend gets some film love...and The Raven is the best. Nevermore (still, the best adaptation of this so far was on "Ths Simpsons: Treehouse of Horrors", Lol)

Not sold. V was mediocre imo, and from the looks of his latest film I'm starting to think of McTeigue as nothing but a glorified second unit director...

I think Poe deserves better than a gimmicky spin. It's a shame Stallone's project with Downey can't get off the ground, it sounds like a great script (Kubrick once said it was one of the best reads he had, FFS!!) and both Sly and Downey need some prestige project to show their worth again. Downey was caricaturing himself lately with schlock like Iron Man

Don't know. Think it would've been better if it was just an adaption of the poem, but I'll wait til further info for better judgement.

Yeah I think it would have been better if it was based on the actual poem but this sounds okay too.

Gomez Addams,

What project are you talking about?

V For Vendetta is a great flick, which explains why it did so bad at the box office. Smart films usually fail. Morons generally don't like smart films, and they flock to crap. I'll give James McTeigue the benefit of the doubt on this one.
