Bruckheimer Launches World War Robot

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has picked up the rights to the IDW graphic novel World War Robot written and drawn by artist Ashley Wood as a war diary written by the participants in a battle between humans and robots that takes place on Earth, the moon and Mars.

Variety reports that the deal was closed during last week's Comic-Con, following on the heels of the IDW comic 30 Days of Night having been turned into a film by Sony which grossed $40 million.

The story reports that IDW is currently the third largest publisher behind Marvel and DC thanks to comics based on licensed titles such as "Star Trek," "24," "CSI" and others.

Sounds interesting. I'll be watching for more info. We really need a decent robot war movie. The tech is finally where it needs to be to make it not suck.

This concept is so stupid. One, noone would ever call a war World War Robot, as it makes no sense. At all. Two, it would be the most insane tactic ever to fight a war on the moon.

Disney already purchased the domain name, guess it will be done with Touchstone.

Sounds like a good premise, just don't let Bay near it.

Oh Nicholas, you seem to think that people actually care about your thoughts. It's called "suspension of belief," for a reason. Enjoy it for what it is, not what you think it should be.

hld, you're right. Enjoy it for what it's worth. But also, you should know, it's suspension of DISbelief. You suspend not believing it's possible. "Nicholas Cage" up there is practicing suspension of belief.

But other than your technical faux pas, you're dead on. I'm looking forward to more information, even though I'm not a fan of graphic novels in general.

Jerry bruckheimer has a good eye for what to produce, I love every thing he is involved with. he is the man when it comes to movies so this should be good.
