Sam Worthington is The Candidate

Sam Worthington will star in Summit Entertainment's remake of Danish thriller The Candidate, with Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen producing through their Temple Hill Entertainment (Twilight), reports Variety.

Beau Willimon will write the adaptation, which follows an aspiring lawyer who wakes up in a hotel room with scant memories of the woman he met the night before, only to discover she's dead in the bathroom -- and he's about to be blackmailed for her murder. As he fights to clear his name, he uncovers a conspiracy that leads back to his own father's mysterious death.

Peter Bose and Jonas Allen of Miso Film will executive produce.

Worthington, who starred in Terminator Salvation this summer, can next be seen in Avatar, Last Night and Clash of the Titans.

I'm from Denmark, and the "original" danish movie -The Candidate- opened a few months back over here. I gotta tell ya all, this movie downright stinks! It's so unoriginal and badly conceived! It's a failure of a movie, taking ellements of The Firm and mixing it with The Fugitive. Seen it all before, and we here in little Denmark shouldn't try to go HollyWood, cause we pretty much such at it! So, I'm guessing that your US version will be better than ours.

HOWEVER, you guys should definitely check out the movie -BROTHERS- coming out christmas (right?), starring Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhall & Natalie Portman. That movie is also a US remake of a danish movie from 2005. That is one great, yet scary and emotional movie! I dont know if it'll translate it self in the US verison as good as the danish one did, but the story is great, and leaves you hammered out by the things happening! I saw the US trailer last night, and it looks very good.
