Resident Evil: Afterlife Starts Shooting in September

July 17, 2009

ShockTillYouDrop.com broke the news to you earlier this month that Screen Gems was gearing up for Resident Evil: Afterlife.

A release date's been set (September 17, 2010), Milla Jovovich is back and Paul W.S. Anderson has penned the script. No word on a director yet, however, Production Weekly reports the fourth entry has locked in an 8-week shooting schedule at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto. Shooting begins on September 28th.

This bring the "Resident Evil" franchise back to Canada after 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse. The last entry, "Extinction," lensed in Mexico.

This is great...at least for me. I love the Resident Evil films, and knew from the start that the Alice story wasn't over. I hope it's as good as it can be. That may not be saying much, but it can't get any worse for some people.

Oh, god... 28 months later? REALLY? I dunno, I don't agree; I thought 28 weeks later was horrendous... probably because, it was an unneeded sequel. EXTREMELY unneeded.

I love the Resident Evil games (5 was incredibly mediocre), and the movies are terrible - from a gamer's perspective. At least, the first one was. For me. I loved the second one, and thought the third one was a great ZOMBIE movie, not a great RESIDENT EVIL movie.

However, Leon should be in this, so... hopefully that'll really help it out.

let's not go all crazy and call RE "great zombie films"

It's alright .... but Apocalypse was horribly trying to be spectacular.... and Extinction wasn't spectacular enough to let a dying world come to full view.

But I'd still watch Afterlife... it's just good popcorn-driven commercialism. I'm guessing it will keep me in my chair for 80 minutes
