Danny Huston Joins Robin Hood

July 13, 2009

Danny Huston is joining the cast of Universal and Imagine's Robin Hood, which Ridley Scott is now directing in England, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Russell Crowe plays the legendary folk hero in the latest retelling of the Robin Hood myth written by Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland. Imagine's Brian Grazer is producing along with Scott and Crowe.

Huston will step into the shoes of the historical figure King Richard, who became known as Richard the Lionheart because of his exploits in the Third Crusade.

Huston starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and has both Edge of Darkness and Clash of the Titans coming up.

I'm sorry- but are there any British people in this entire cast? I guess we'll have to put up with half hearted attempts at english accents

Awesome. Danny Huston is terrific. (Anybody who's only seen him in Wolverine should check out The Proposition. Brilliantly dark film, and Huston is great in it.)

Hey Brit... ever seen Russell Crowe in a little film called Gladiator? How about Cate Blanchet in a small film called Elizabeth... seemed like they did pretty good British accents in those two flicks. Isn't Crowe Aussie anyway... granted its not England, but not to far off from the British accent.

Anywho, looking forward to the film. Ridley Scott can do no wrong.

Didn't Russell Crowe play a Spaniard in Gladiator? Regardless, his accent was Aussie, not British.

You'd think that being ENGLISH Ridley Scott would cast ENGLISH or at least BRITISH actors for an adaptation of an ENGLISH folklore tale, not really got a problem with Russell Crowe because he was pretty good in Gladiator with his gruff cockney-esque accent.

Btw ClarkPaco, are you mentally retarded? Cate Blanchett is from IRELAND, so she is BRITISH and is able to play BRITISH characters, regardless of the fact she is a fantastic actress, and an Australian accent is much different to a British accent, it's more like the South African accent, you nerk!
