First Photo From Drew Barrymore's Whip It

USA Today has published the first photo from Fox Searchlight's Whip It, the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore.

The film stars Ellen Page (Juno) as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden plays Bliss' disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live") and Juliette Lewis play roller-derby stars. Eve, Jimmy Fallon and Daniel Stern also star.

Jesus... HARD CANDY and LITTLE CHILDREN are MOVIES. Finding a character intriguing is not an endorsement of that character's behavior. I find the Bride from "Kill Bill" to be fascinating, but I don't endorse chopping peoples' limbs off with samurai swords. If you're going to complain about CHARACTER STUDIES, then you shouldn't be on this site talking to movie fans. Take your moral superiority complex over to the Parent's Television Council and stop pretending to be some great film expert.

At some point let's talk about films. Like, for instance, Ellen Page's character in Juno would NEVER enter a beauty pageant or play any kind of sports. So it's very very unlikely she'll be anything like Juno, probably more akin to a "Legally Blonde-ish" fish out of water performance. Ditzy but likeable. Either way, let's watch it and see how it goes.
