Ready for a View-Master Movie?

"Fringe" co-producer/writer Brad Caleb Kane will be writing a movie based on the View-Master toy, which first came on the market in 1939.

He announced on his Twitter account that after he's done penning the sci-fi action-adventure Uprising for director Wolfgang Petersen and Columbia Pictures, he will take on the project for DreamWorks Pictures.

Kane says Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Fringe," Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek) are behind the film and that it will be "like the old 80's Amblin movies: Goonies, Young Sherlock... In that vein."

The viewers have changed quite a bit over the years, but for a history of the toy, you can go here. Fisher-Price's official site for the View-Master is here.

How about:

OPERATION: The Movie

A 29-year old man with a simple life, consisting of a fish-only diet ends up being rushed to the hospital one fateful night....

A moving tale of one mercury-toxicated man's journey to have all his major internal organs (and a few bones) removed and replaced by doctor's utilizing a state-of-the-art medical tool:

A pair of electric tweezers.

Tagline: Surgery as never been this shocking.

well i can actually see how this could work. they said its gonna be in the same fashion as the goonies and young sherlock holmes. obviously theres some type of mystery where even the simplest of things confusing. the only way to put together the pieces of this complex puzzle is through said view-finder. there is a handmade disc of pictures and everything in these pictures leads you closer to answer. its obvious how the movies gonna work. whether it would be good is up to writers messin up the screenplay.

This will almost certainly be in 3D (at least the viewmaster portions of it) and it will almost certainly suck. Movies get made based on this dreck but Frank Darabont can't get his Fahrenheit 451 film made because "it's too smart, the audience wouldn't get it"?? WTF?? WANTED: film executives PREREQUISITES: must be illiterate retards who have no sense of humour and like playing with children's toys.

Ridiculous. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea has some problems. And I truly believe this speaks to how desperate Hollywood is for ideas right now.

This is a great idea...
I'm sure they are already trying to work out how to make this view-master movie into a trilogy followed by a prequel.
and then reboot it.

You know this sounds so idiotic it may actually work with the right storyline. The viewmaster portions would definitly have to be in 3D or the whole idea is pointless. Though I imagine that is why they are bringing it up now.
