Ready for a View-Master Movie?

"Fringe" co-producer/writer Brad Caleb Kane will be writing a movie based on the View-Master toy, which first came on the market in 1939.

He announced on his Twitter account that after he's done penning the sci-fi action-adventure Uprising for director Wolfgang Petersen and Columbia Pictures, he will take on the project for DreamWorks Pictures.

Kane says Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Fringe," Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek) are behind the film and that it will be "like the old 80's Amblin movies: Goonies, Young Sherlock... In that vein."

The viewers have changed quite a bit over the years, but for a history of the toy, you can go here. Fisher-Price's official site for the View-Master is here.

I hope it comes with special glasses that have a lever on the side that allows you to decide when to change scenes.

Slinky should be a horror movie and the tagline should be... "Just when you thought it was safe to walk up the stairs..."

Okay, I know this will probably go unnoticed due to all the guffawing (and honsetly, who wouldn't want to make fun of this?), but I can sort of see a premise for this. It could be a more kid-oriented nostalgia film. Instead of being about the toy itself, the story could revolve around the View-Master as being a crucial tool to solving some mystery that only the kids are able or interested in solving.

I'd want a movie with more action; how about one based on Parker Brothers' GNIP-GNOP?

There must be some sort of tax break or other financial advantage behind all these toy and game based movies we're suddenly hearing about.

Oh, and if done right "Snakes and Ladders" would make a great horror movie.

actually i think it'll be a movie about time travel via the viewer and each disc will allow the user to travel to that time period and such just my base idea where they could be headed. Oh by the way grammar here sucks and my thoughts are well my thoughts so you have yours and i have mine, trash if you must but let keep this site friendly ok one site i actually like.
