Paramount and DreamWorks' Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is close to becoming the highest-grossing film of the year at the worldwide box office in less than two weeks in release.

Through Tuesday, the film's global take was $448.4 million, says Variety. The current No. 1 title, Angels & Demons, which opened in mid-May, has grossed $469 million.

At the domestic box office, the Transformers sequel grossed $14.9 million Monday and $13.5 million Tuesday for a total of $228.4 million.

Overseas, Monday's grosses clocked in at $14 million, while Tuesday came in at $16 million for a foreign total of $220 million.

At that rate, the film should catch up with "Angels" by Friday, even with the day and date entry of 20th Century Fox's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

"Transformers" is also expected to overtake Up ($255 million through Tuesday domestically) this weekend to become the biggest domestic grosser of 2009.

why are people still spending money to go see this film, yes the action's alright, but the plot is awful, the comedy is forced and awful, and Michael Bay is AWFUL

Cue fanboys to the defense. Ok movie, glad studio made it's money back...

Now, take THREE years off and actually write a sequel with a good plot!

agreed with stanley...if they took the time to make to storyline work it could have been a good movie. I don't see any point in rewatching the film ever again because the plot was desperate and ridiculous.

I love how people hated this movie. You people make it sound like you would rather watch High School Musical.

Trust me when I tell you, even if this was a bad movie. It's NOTHING compared to the **** piles that were Dragonball: Evolution and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

You wanna see a **** plot? Check those out before you start slamming this movie.

It was enjoyable, fun to see, but bad plot and not that good of a movie. At least the robots were cool, and Megan Fox is hot.

Other than that, the movie was alright. It's forgettable, could watch it again, good summer flick, good entertainment.

Amen! Does everyone really expect epicness from a toy movie? The action was great...Optimus was a beast...Shia was cool....and Megan Fox was unbelievable as usual. What more do you really want from a freaking TRANSFORMERS movie???? Critics save your yapping. There is a reason its having all this success.

@rooltide2020

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely loved it. These critics and so called critics are probably just so struck by The Dark Knight that they lost faith in everything else.
