Michael Bay to Direct I Am Number Four?

Variety reports that DreamWorks Pictures is close to a deal to acquire screen rights to "I Am Number Four," the first of a six-book science fiction deal that has Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay aboard to produce and possibly direct.

The trade says that one of the writers is James Frey, best known for writing "A Million Little Pieces." Neither the agency nor the studio would confirm.

It is expected that Steven Spielberg will be active in a behind-the-scenes capacity, similar to the role he has played in the "Transformers" franchise.

The franchise is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.

minus the nine highschool kids scenario.. sounds kinda like the superman plot.. kinda.. maybe.. sorta.. just sayin'. I can officially say there are no original idea's left in Hollywood. I challenge any screenwriters or directors in Hollyweird to think of an original screenplay. Hey, Todd Phillips did it with "The Hangover" guys, IT.CAN.BE.DONE. we have the technology. As for the intelligence.. that is left to be determined..lol

@Matt Owen

There has been news that states that Transformers 2 maybe possibly be Bay's last Transformers film and that he wants to go and not make a big budget movie.

And as for him being apart of I Am Number Four, need more information before making an opinion.

Great.

A self-absorbed and deluded author joining forces with a self-absorbed and deluded director.

Sounds like a pure win.

Let's hope MBay knows what he's doing. I'm sad to see him leave Transformers.

LOL WTF. More useless action with transfomers 3 THAT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE IN 3D JUST BECAUSE IT'S THE THIRD ONE. But yea, bay in space never goes good, give it to JJ Abrams or something, even though his hands are full.
