Ryan Reynolds Gets Buried

Source:Variety
June 25, 2009

Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) will star in Buried, playing a civilian contractor who's kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife.

Rodrigo Cortes will direct a script by Chris Sparling; production will begin this month in Barcelona.

Peter Safran will produce through his Safran Co. with Adrian Guerra of Spain-based Versus Entertainment, which is financing the film. The picture will shoot entirely in Spain, which is home to Cortes.

Hasn't at least one episode of every single TV show delt with this scenario? Buffy, CSI, Bones, Monk... Even Kill Bill. Hopefully it'll bring something new to something that's been done to death.

There was a great episode of Alias where Sydney was burried and it was all up to Marshall to find and save her. Not to mention a really great scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2 where Beatrix gets burried. This sounds like really different for Reynolds.

If you were going to bury someone alive, why would you leave them with a cellphone, a candle, and a knife? Meh...

Leave him buried, isn't his 5 minute of fame up yet ???

He is a pretty face with no acting skills, I am so bored of all these little twinks getting roles based on looks, what happened to the ability to act ? have we become that shallow now.

@ Hunter.

A tv show is very different from a movie. Have you noticed a difference in time length? A 1/2 hr-an hr is quite different than the length of a feature film, so I think there's going to be something different about this as well. & btw, this scenario has been seen in a different perspective than I'm assuming this movie will. Someone being buried alive in Bones or CSI or any other of those crime shows focuses on the people trying to find the person who is buried. I would assume that this movie is going to focus on Ryan Reynolds himself in the coffin, and the tools he's been given to try to get himself out of it....so if you didn't see the difference before, there ya go, before you start being negative about it.

Really? Really. How does he being cast in this movie have anything to do with his looks? This type of movie is very much an acting movie, coming from an actor myself. Ur comment makes no sense.
