Tony Gilroy Rewriting Red Dawn

Source:Latino Review

Latino Review reports that Tony Gilroy, the Oscar-nominated writer/director of Michael Clayton and writer of the "Bourne" movies, has come on board to rewrite MGM's Red Dawn.

Dan Bradley, the director of the remake, was the 2nd unit director of the Jason Bourne films.

The original Red Dawn was the Cold War brainchild of writer/director John Milius, who devised a World War III invasion of America by the Soviets and Cubans. The film followed the scrappy insurgency of a group of Midwestern teenagers who take on their high school mascot name -- "Wolverines!" -- as a rallying cry of resistance.

MGM has set a September 24, 2010 release for the updated version, which will star Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki.

Ok, that's it...I'm taking the whole year off from movies. Maybe when I get back things will have calmed down and we will have more original ideas, and concepts.

hmmm...which hip hop artist will make his actor/screen debut in this one? And will he/she go on to make a remake of Dirty Dancing with an all afro american cast? Let me put the magic 8 ball down. Anyways...

I'd rather pay to see a Red Dawn sequel than a remake.

Some other movies that should be remade, just to keep the bandwagon rolling:

-RAD
-EXPLORERS
-FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR
-NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER
-ONLY THE STRONG
-THE GOONIES
-BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED
-DARKMAN

REBOOTS:
-DIE HARD
-STAR WARS
-ROCKY

Let's Hollywood, lets ruin some more cult classics

What's next?, Start the whole Rocky series all over again? It would be pretty interesting to see who you could find to play Rocky Balboa.

Will you people shut the hell up?! God, it's as if whenever these movies come out, your childhood memories are destroyed. It's not like the originals go away after the new one is made. Remakes are just a new envisioning of films that we considered great when they were first made. They also let new generations love the films that we used to love. If you don't think these remakes look good, then don't see them. But you don't need to throw a tantrum every time a remake of an 80's film get's announced. Personally, I think this movie will be great because Gilroy has never failed to impress with his action movies.

Gee, what countries will be "rewritten" as the "invading armies" into the USA...?

This is stupid. Hello, 9/11!!

I think the new "twist" should be UN Gestapo invade the Red Planet and stays there. LOL
