Russian newsite RIA Novosti had a chance to talk to that country's biggest filmmaker Timur Bekmabetov recently, and he told them that he has started preparations on making the sequel to the 2008 summer hit Wanted and that they've found a way to bring Angelina Jolie's character back.

Talking about the tentatively-titled Wanted 2, Bekmambetov told them, "In July we will start preparation for the film. I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed. The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia."

Besides Jolie's character, Fox, Bekmambetov hopes to bring back the character played by Kostya Khabenskiy, who also starred in Bekmambetov's breakout films Night Watch and Day Watch, as well as introducing new characters. The sequel reportedly has a $150 million budget, which is the biggest Hollywood production made by a Russian filmmaker, and Bekmambetov will once again have Russian crew involved in all aspects of production.

I really enjoyed Wanted but I'm not sure how a sequel will work, especially since Mark Millar probably won't have any involvement since he didnt write a second graphic novel, plus bringing Angelina back? Hows that going to work when she took a bullet to the side of the head?

Why? Why bring back Angelina Jolie Voight? She's dead, move on. Just introduce new people and make a better film. The first didn't follow the graphic novel. Maybe they can get it a little closer.

My guess is there will be a prequel / flashback aspect to it if they're planning on bringing those 2 characters back...either than or some kind of magic thing which I'm not too keen on, yet again Wanted was very over-the-top, so who knows, I might buy into it.

Wanted was one of biggest disappointments of 2008., ok first half was entertaining and full of adrenaline, but second half when we discover who Thomas Kretschmann's character is, everything become boring and artificial. And of course, there's not any similarity with great Millar's comic book. So, new movie is unnecessary. But I'd like to see some new Bekmambetov's projects, like Moby Dick (also for Universal) and unnamed sci-fi project with Robert Downey Jr. and Reese Witherspoon attached to star.

Also to those who are wondering how they can bring Angelina/Fox back....well it didn't show it pierce her skull, you saw brief blood that's it...almost like it nicked her on purpose and she faked that she was dead...then again they could say she died and somehow bring her back...either way its fine with me...it had action..lots of blood...it only lacked one thing....boobs..Fox Boobs.

Wanted was one of the surprises of last summer. I liked it more than most people though. I hope the sequel will be good.
