Kitsch Set, Collins Confirmed for John Carter of Mars!

Walt Disney Pictures has announced that "Wolverine" stars Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins (confirming our earlier scoop) will reteam for John Carter of Mars, the live-action debut of WALL•E and Finding Nemo director Andrew Stanton.

Kitsch will play the title character, a damaged Civil War veteran who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars where his involvements with warring raced of the dying planet force him to rediscover his humanity.

Collins will play Dejah Thoris, the heir to the throne of Mars' Helium kingdom.

The screenplay for the sci-fi action-adventure, based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic series of fantasy/sci-fi novels, was written by Stanton and Mark Andrews with a polish by Michael Chabon.

Jim Morris (WALL•E) and Colin Wilson (upcoming Avatar, Munich, War of the Worlds) are producing the film, which will start production early next year.

Yes!

I've read the first three books of John Carter of Mars and these books are very well written. I've always wanted them to come out with a movie of this book. Finally.

Can't wait for this to come out.

Great. I've been waiting for years for a movie to be made, and they cast a no talent pretty boy in the lead. I bet Edgar is rolling over in his grave.

At last they're moving forward. And talented lead or not, it could have been far worse. At least we are spared the hack director of Zathura and Iron Man which was attached earlier.

Isn't this guy too young to play Carter? I mean I guess he was ok as Gambit but this is a bigger role in my opinion. Stanton is a good animation director, hopefully he doesnt dissapoint this franchise.

I think the lead went to thw wrong person. I acctually feel like should have given it to Tom Welling, the guy is a better than you think and he has a lot of fans. But executives allways gives the roles to the wrong people, instead of given it to relatively unknown actors. Bad choice!!

You know!!! I know is wishful thinking but why not Josh Holloway or Nathan Fillion. I really believe these guys can become major movie stars but thats just me, there's a reason why i work out of a cubicle and this producers are millionares

Wow, I'm surprised you guys are ragging on Taylor Kitsch. He's actually quite a charismatic actor. Anyway, I'm excited for this - Andrew Stanton put out two of the greatest movies of this decade, so it should be good!
