Ryan Reynolds Talks More Deadpool

Source:MTV
June 11, 2009

With The Proposal opening in theaters next Friday, Ryan Reynolds has been doing more interviews and MTV talked to him more about starring in the "Wolverine" spin-off Deadpool.

"I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way," he said about his involvement in the project. "To their credit — the studio's credit — they want to make an authentic 'Deadpool' movie; they want to make it as close to the source material as possible."

Reynolds added that he and the studio have already agreed to some key terms. "He's going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we're going to give] all those answers that everyone wants. He's going to have the scarred-up face, he's going to be in the suit — and, it's going to be incredible."

You can read more of the interview here. No release date has been set yet.

Sounds good... I was a little disappointed with how little screen time he got in Wolverine, but this movie is sounding like it has potential

Its great to see that he cares so much about it, hopefully the writers and producers will follow his lead.

Lets hope they stay close to the material and not steer off into something completely unknown.

Sure, Ryan Reynolds has incredible creative control over the production... until it gets to actual full on production time and Tom Rothman gets his greedy little hands on it. I mean does everyone really think Rothman will actually stay out of the way of the creative process of a big budget, summer tentpole movie for Fox? Unless Ryan Reynolds somehow worked it into a contract for the spin-off that he has the final say (which I doubt) then Rothman's track record points to him meddling with the film. One can only hope the eventual changes and BS that Rothman forces down the throats of the producers and the creative team aren't that bad.

I'm sorry but this asshat Rothman has screwed up too many Fox movies and franchises for me to think he will just sit this one out and let Ryan Reynolds make the calls.

I find it funny that everyone leaps in to say "sounds good, great, yeah awsum!" based on some hyperbole comments from the ACTOR! Ryan Reynolds probably has ZERO influence on the direction the film takes and of course is going to tell the fans that its going to be great, at this eary stage. Mark my words - in a few months we will all be sat here whilst the director (and Ryan) spout some b**l**** about how all the cool changes they have made to the Character/story are really brilliant and were "needed" for the movie version...

i gotta admit i'm pretty stoked about this and how much respect ryan reynolds has for the source material, in the interviews for wolverine you could obviously tell he wasn't too crazy about how the character was used in the movie but its cool that marvel is expanding their films not just sticking to the heros everyone knows, fingers crossed for this one
