Star Trek director J.J. Abrams tells TV Guide that he will be producing the fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

"I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on 'Mission: Impossible 4,'" said Abrams, who directed 2006's Mission: Impossible III, but hasn't yet committed to directing the fourth.

"Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing," he added.

The third film cost about $150 million to make and earned $397.8 million worldwide. The first pic pulled in $457.7 million worldwide on a $80 million budget and the second took in $546.3 million on a $125 million budget.

Abrams' credits include TV shows "Fringe," "Lost," "Alias" and "Felicity."

MI 3 was good. Surprisingly so. I genuinely like it. But even so, do we really need a fourth one?

Still though, I thought the same thing about the third one. So who knows, maybe this will be good too.

Just as long as this doesn't delay Abrams' second Star Trek project...

**** cruise is not as big a star as he was. He is probably using abrams to capitalize on his success so he can try to redeem himself. 1st MI alright 2nd Considerably better and more entertaining 3rd after the 2nd it was boring action wise.

Tom Cruise has it in his contract that he gets to pick the director for the Mission Impossible movies.

Mi3 failed, the second one was the best. Go back to the basics and not so much of the gadgets and stupid masks. Yeah i know the masks are classic, but i think too much special effects kill a great story. I know abrams and cruise will pull it off. My favorite director and actor!
