Director Rob Cohen Goes Medieval

Director Rob Cohen will direct Medieval for New Regency, reports Variety.

Cohen has backed out of reteaming with Vin Diesel on XXX: The Return of Xander Cage for Sony, adds the trade. Instead, he has signed a deal to helm an event-sized action film that Cohen calls "The Magnificent Seven" in the Middle Ages.

New Regency, which will finance the film and distribute through Fox, acquired the spec script by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch. McG will be involved in a producing capacity.

Cohen said the aim is to get the picture into production by October.

Rob cohen has been doing horrible movies lately anyway---lucky for vin diesel that he dropped out from directing this film so that they can get another director that can make XXX3 enjoyable just like the past XXX movies.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but Cohen isn't a very good director. Mummy 3 was cringe-worthy and just awful ( I won't even go into his other films).

I nominate John McTiernan (Predator, Die Hard) to take over. He needs a big movie like this to bring his career back.

Hopefully Vin Diesel won't leave the project because of Cohen's exit.

i agree sunny richardson, Jphn McTiernan's Predator and Die hard films gives him a number 1 spot at being a director at this movie XXX: the return of xander cage.

Rob cohen's film as of late are a definite decline.

And am I the only one out there who loved John McTiernan's The 13th Warrior? I thought that was a great film.

Don't forget John McTiernan's Normads, Thomas Crown and Hunt for Red October.

But he had also made: Rollerball - ARRGGGA!!

What is with the Godfather of action movies himself: Walter Hill!
