No Y: The Last Man for Shia LaBeouf

Almost two years ago, it was announced the D.J. Caruso would direct and Carl Ellsworth would write an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra's Y: The Last Man.

Since then, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star Shia LaBeouf's name has come up numerous times as being in talks to play the lead role of Yorick Brown, the lone survivor of a plague that wipes out all males on the planet. The project would have reunited him with Caruso, who directed LaBeouf in Eagle Eye and Disturbia.

But now, LaBeouf tells Wizard magazine that Yorick is too similar to his "Transformers" role of Sam Witwicky.

"You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder," said LaBeouf of Yorick's sidekick Ampersand. "I don't know if it's that big a differential. It seems like he's the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again.

He added, "I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around."

Good. The more roles we keep him out of, the better off we are.

Unfortunate, but mighty good relief. La Beef probably doesn't want to do it because he'll have to work with a monkey again. Remember Indiana Jones and the Raping of My Childhood?

Ok, that was harsh but excellent for a chuckle!

I'm with you Zeroed Out. He would have been a terrible choice to play Yorick. Don't like the way he acts, in all his movies it's like he is on Speed or Ritalin.

The only difference between Yorick and Sam is that the role of Sam is pretty much pointless in a Transformers movie. And to be honest, those Transformers movies are crap. Just because you through in a few retro sounds doesn't make it a real Transformers movie. I don't remember seeing a Transformer peeing on someone.

Good, Y: The Last Man is too good for Shia. Having Shia probably would have made a Y movie more likely and more likely to be a commercial success, but as a selfish nerd, I'd prefer someone else in the role.

It amazes me that there are still fanboys who only want to see their cartoon as live action. Get over it. If you made a movie with nothing but transformers it would be ****.

They should take a look at Jackson Rathbone. His star is on the rise (despite the Twilight films) with Airbender and Lords of Chaos. And word is that his work was solid in Dread.

ok guys, lets look at the facts. In EVERY SINGLE transformers series(with the exception of Beast Wars because it took place on prehistoric earth) there have been kids the autobots had befriended. Sam is just another one of those kids. Its part of the formula and its not been messed with. Some of you say they need to keep these things original or not make them at all. Atleast since they made it its stuck with the same formula, unlike dragonball evolution or street fighter. Dont say keep things original and then when they do, complain about it. None of you are making the damn movies yourselves, so you have absolutely no place to say anything...get a life...and for the record, Shia LeBeouf was the comic relief...to an extent.
