UPDATE: Publisher Titan Books has informed us that the release date for this title has been moved - it won't be released on September 22nd.

No release date or distributor has been announced yet for the film, but a "Movie Book" for director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass is already on sale at Amazon.com. Here's how the book, hitting stores on September 22, is described:

"Kick-Ass", the bestselling comic book series by Mark Millar (writer of the graphic novel "Wanted", which became a smash-hit movie) and artist John Romita Jr., is now an eagerly awaited film, and this is the essential companion book! What would happen if you tried to be a superhero? What would happen when an ordinary kid in a spandex costume comes face-to-face with the criminal underworld? Comic book fan and high school student Dave Lizewski, aka the self-styled vigilante Kick-Ass, is about to find out...and it's going to get really, really violent! With Mark Millar as your guide, "Kick-Ass: The Movie Book" gives you the lowdown on the making of the film, with eye-popping art from the original comics, script extracts and hundreds of movie photos! It is suitable for adults only.

The action-adventure stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mark Strong, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz.

This is one the most original ideas to come along in a long time! I'm referring to the movie not the book. The book sounds nice too.

The answer to Ashley's question is in the first sentence of the article. If it wasn't then the answer would only be one click away. I say their post deserves ridicule more than coddling.

For a film to already completed filming and post-production work, to not have a distributor or at the very least a tentative release date, does not spell good news for it.

Let's not forget that this is a film pushing the envelope. A similar thing happened recently with Jim Carrey's "Phillip Morris" movie, but it was able to get a distributor. It'll be here soon, just give it time.

And stop bashing Nicolas Cage!!!
