Jack Nicholson Eyeing James L. Brooks Pic

Jack Nicholson is closing in on a deal to re-team with James L. Brooks on the helmer's untitled romantic comedy at Columbia Pictures, reports Variety. He would join Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson in the project.

For months, Bill Murray had been in talks to portray the blueblood father of Rudd's character, but no deal closed.

Brooks, who also penned the screenplay, is producing alongside Paula Weinstein (Blood Diamond), Laurence Mark (Dreamgirls) and Gracie Films president Julie Ansell.

The story involves a love triangle, with Rudd playing a white-collar executive vying for Witherspoon's affections, and Wilson portraying a professional baseball pitcher who is also a love interest.

Two of Nicholson's three Oscars have come via Brooks films: 1983's Terms of Endearment and 1997's As Good as It Gets.

Perfect. Nicholson was godlike in Brooks film "As Good as It Gets". One of the best movie ever made - intelligent, funny, and romantic without any cheap tricks.

At this point I'll pretty much watch anything Jack is in, I wish he would work more but with a resume like his he has every right to take breaks.

Agreed! It seems like Hollywood has forgotten the art of good comedy - instead their content to make these trashy-lowest-common-denominator style films that are just garbage.
If you need sex and offensive language to be the basis of every joke then go hang out at a high school - you'll be a big hit there!

Boring. Nicholson should do a thriller or drama, not the blonde fuelled rom-com snore fests."

The mere fact that it's from Brooks proves you're wrong. AGAIG and Broadcast News are proof of this. Plus, Jack was in both of those movies with the latter being a cameo which he did for free.
