Chevy Chase Jumps in Hot Tub Time Machine

May 29, 2009

Chevy Chase is joining the cast of United Artists' time-travel comedy Hot Tub Time Machine, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Steve Pink-directed film, opening February 26, 2010, stars John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Lizzy Caplan, Crispin Glover, Sebastian Stan and Charlie McDermott.

"Hot Tub" follows a bunch of unsatisfied guys who get thrown back to their younger days in 1987 via their Jacuzzi.

Chase plays a mysterious repairman who dispenses pearls of wisdom and may or may not be behind the metaphysical road trip. The film is shooting in Vancouver.

The trade adds that Chase is also considering a new script for the Weinstein Co. that would see him reprise his investigative reporter Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher. The current screenplay has Fletch passing the baton to his journalist nephew as the semi-retired uncle advises him on his stories.

Sherwood. wow. And wheres your career going again?

ANYwho.... This Sounds like a fun movie. I thought Chase did well on Chuck this season. So this should be good for him.

Respect for all the comic geniuses that preceded us seems to be waning...sad.

I don't know about another "Fletch". But if they could cast Ryan Reynolds, it would have a better chance of not sucking.

If Chevy doesent play Fletch again there is only one actor who can do it. James Roday from Psych, he would be great as Fletch. He is great at comedy.

I've also thought that James Roday would be perfect for the Fletch role.

I guess UA saw the success of 17 Again and think they could up the anty and instead of one man transforming back to their teenage self, they'll make a bunch of friends transform back....lame.

As for the Fletch re-launch, yeah I agree with some of the posts, James Roday and Ryan Reynolds would be perfect as the nephew.

I remember hearing back in the day that Kevin Smith wanted to do a Fletch sequal back in early 2000, and even had a script for it. He told that story in the Howard Stern show that he and Chevy Chase agreed to do it, but they had a falling out of some sorts and the project was put in development hell.
