Photos From the Robin Hood Set

May 23, 2009

The Daily Mail has posted photos of the filming that took place for director Ridley Scott's Robin Hood at Bourne Woods, Surrey, this week. Opening in theaters on May 14, 2010, the action-drama stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Vanessa Redgrave, Mark Strong, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Alan Doyle, Oscar Isaacs, Lea Seydoux and William Hurt.

Crowe plays Robin of Loxley in an origin story of Robin Hood that hews close to historical facts of the period. Abandoned as a child, he finds community with the common people of Nottingham. Robin's abandonment and trust issues hamper his ability to fall in love. He meets his match in Marian (Blanchett), a strong, independent woman.

I'm interested to see where this goes, a fresh look at Robin Hood. I have enjoyed every movie that is about robin hood (yes even the so called abomination that was Kevin Costner's Robin Hood)

Too bad Achoo won't be in this one though :)

I want to know if Saoirse Ronan star in the film too? She said she would to star in it. But I don't know if she really in it.

I wish Kate Winslet (Flushed Away) had been Marian instead of Cate Blanchett!

Kate reportedly wasn't available, so, like, they had to substitute another world class Oscar winning actress to play Lady Marion. Hummmm it just might work out.

At least insipid Sienna Miller got canned. Her casting was a head scratcher from the beginning. Imagine her holding her own in scenes with Crowe?

I'm sure the movie is going to be good, but I am disappointed they did not stick with the Nottingham story line they started with. The book is a fresh look at the situation and not the same ole- same ole I expect more than that from Crowe. Maybe he's playing it safe.

Out of all the movies Kate Winslet has been in, you credit her with "Flushed Away"???

Anyway, I agree though. Winslet is always great. But Blanchett is outstanding, too.

This looks good. Can't wait.

Russel Crowe and Ridley Scott together make a good combo. You could throw Jack Black with that order.

I heard about that Vanessa Redgrave drops out the movie and Eileen Atkins replace her.
