DreamWorks Remaking Fright Night

The Hollywood Reporter says that DreamWorks Pictures is in the process of picking up a remake of Fright Night.

Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films are producing along with Michael De Luca.

The original Fright Night, written and directed by Tom Holland in 1985, was a horror comedy about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires. No writer has been hired, but the updated version will keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects.

Another remake? I've just read up on the Cliffhanger one...yikes.

I can't wait til they start touching The Exorcist, Terminator 2, Alien, Godfather, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Rocky, E.T...

All the classics, smudged and filthy by the memory of a greedy studio cashing in on the classics, tying the crappy remakes together with the fine originals.

I don't remember Fright Night being all that funny to be called a comedy.....It had its moments. Hollywood is going to do what Hollywood wants to do and they will remake movies till they are not making any money off of them.

We the movie goers tell them we want them to crank out the remakes and reboots by going to go see them and paying our good money.

With all that said, I hope this is good cause I loved the original. I'm just afraid they will make it a comedy horror a la The Buffy The Vampire movie or something...uuuggg

Remaking a cult classic like Fright Night?

Seriously let's remake Rocky Horror, Troll 2, and every other cult classic while we're at it?

Don't forget about all about the 1970s classics: Let's reboot Star Wars, Godfather, The Conversation, Rocky, Chinatown, Superman the Movie, Godfather II, Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter, Mean Streets, Cuckoo's Nest and Dog Day Afternoon while we're at it

If it ain't broke Hollywood, don't fix it!

You know something? This in no way, shape, or form surprises me. Hollywood is so remake happy it isn't even funny. They're trying to cash in on things that have already been done because they have no other original ideas.

I wonder who's going to play Jerry Dandridge?
