The Jean-Claude Van Damme-Vinnie Jones starrer Weapon will be the first film produced by Flagship Films, a new production company run by producers Alison Semenza and Todd Moyer, reports Variety.

Weapon, to be directed by Highlander helmer Russell Mulcahy, will star Van Damme and Jones as Derek Chase and Jack Conway, the world's most talented assassins. The story follows the two as they join forces to take down the head of a DEA-backed drug cartel.

Former agent Moyer worked with Dark Horse Comics for seven years, where he brokered comics property deals that resulted in movies like The Mask, Timecop, Virus and Mystery Men.

Hell yes. Van Damme needs to kick-ass once more 90s style. Bring the cheese! I am hungry...

Kinda off subject, I always thought a true-to the-book version of The Mask would've been really kick ass.

But good for Van Damme I suppose.

Granted I would've loved to have seen him in the Expendables...but whatever. Loved JCVD, especially his soliloquy on his failed dreams.

He turns down Stallone, Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and Eric Roberts in an Action Movie, because there wasn't enough going on with the character and story.. and chooses a "star" vehicle with footballer Vinnie Jones. I mean, it's been said, but The Expendables could seriously be good, and it's going to make money. Neither can be said of "Weapon."

This just makes it clear that JCVD was a lucky fluke for him, and its quality was due to the writing, directing, and Van Damme playing himself and having the opportunity to feel sorry for himself on camera. He clearly didn't want to be in an ensemble movie, and his ego is still a problem. Too bad.

Cant wait..I am glad to see a Real Action Star revive his talent. He needs to team up with Chuck Norris and Seagal and show everybody who is still the real Azz kickers. another Missing in Action (Iraq War style) anyone...
