Is Bradley Cooper the Green Lantern?

Hitfix is reporting the rumor that The Hangover star Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers, "Alias") is a frontrunner to play the title role in director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. No deal has been signed yet, however.

The site says the Warner Bros. Pictures comic book adaptation starts shooting later this summer for a December 17, 2010 release.

The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan, introduced in 1959, is a second-generation test pilot, an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

Yeah that actually isn't a bad choice. I like Bradley Cooper. It'd be interesting to see him as a superhero, and Green Lantern would be a cool choice for him. Though I didn't think Ryan Gosling or Chris Pine would be too bad either. But Bradley Cooper seems promising.

damn. this will definately put his acting skills to the test. he was best as an a-hole in wedding crashers. pretty cool in failure to launch. idk... i dont hate him as the choice yet. just cant picture him super serious.

definitly thinking outside of the box with this one, personally i say good on them. he hasn't done anything where ive thought he done badly. Alias he wasn't bad, Nip/Tuck he was good as the chracter he portrayed, Hangover trailer looks great. serious role tho im not sure, definitly one to watch out for.

hes a hell of a lot better than the other bunch of supposed castings thats for sure.

I loved Bradley Cooper in Alias and Kitchen Confidential.

I hope he gets it.

Hmmm...I don't know. I can see him as Kyle, but I don't know if I can picture him as Hal. He'd have to style his hair. I don't think he's a bad actor, but I don't know if I can see him playing a square-jawed, straight-laced and fearless Hal Jordan.

If you ask me, they should've tapped Woody Harrelson. There's a pic of him from 1988 and his smile, hair and overall charisma screams "In brightest day, in blackest night..."

P.S. I never did jump on the Gosling bandwagon, but I think Ryan Gosling would be GREAT as Barry Allen, if they ever get arround to making an effin' Flash movie.
