Green Lantern Confirmed to Shoot in Sydney

April 16, 2009

The Mt Druitt Standard reports that New South Wales premier Nathan Rees has confirmed that Warner Bros. Pictures will shoot Green Lantern at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney later this year (previous reports said in September). GoldenEye, The Legend of Zorro and Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell will direct. Here's a clip:

Premier Nathan Rees said filming would take place at Fox Studios with a substantial investment in digital effects work creating hundreds of jobs.

"The production is expected to employ 500 people at any given time, including 100 performers, 200 crew and thousands of extras," he said.

Rumor has it that Chris Pine AKA Capt Kirk in new Star Trek will play Hal Jordan....thats what Latinoreview says, and they are 95% accurate with their rumors.

I hope they don't mess it up. Fox is notorious for messing up good ideas. Also, anyone posting on a message board is pretty much a loser. I admit it, that's the first step in recovery, admitting you're a loser.

Wow, Jeff. Wow. Anyway, is there anyone else really worried about this movie? I truly love the Green Lantern and was absolutely looking foward to this movie...until Dark Knight. Now it seems that DC is trying to capatalize on that success in every franchise that they are rumored to be attempting to launch by trying to make these movies a lot darker than the comics. Batman is absolutely a dark comic and that's one of the things I love about it! Green Lantern, though there are some dark undertones, has always been more of a fun comic to me. I just hope they don't try to make it dark for the sake of being dark. I was pretty disappointed when I heard that they were trying to do the same thing with the Captain Marvel movie. I just want them to make some great movies that compliment the comics that a lot of us grew up with. I'm not one of the Fanboys that needs panel by panel accuracy or anything but there are some franchises that don't need to be dark. Here's hoping they actually make this movie (What happened to Justice League? Wonder Woman? The Superman reboot?) and that it is a good time.

martin campbell is an awesome choice for director. i consider casino royal and goldeneye one of the best bond movies ( without sean connery)
he will do an awesome job.
i'm glad this is finally happening.
