Zac Efron Confirmed for Jonny Quest

After months of rumors, it's finally been confirmed that "High School Musical" star Zac Efron has signed on to play the title role in Warner Bros.' planned live-action version of the popular '60s Hanna-Barbera cartoon show Jonny Quest.

L.A. Times' "Hero Complex" got the confirmation but mentions that Warner Bros. have been considering changing the name of the property to avoid the inevitably negative comparisons to Warner Bros.' flop Speed Racer, another live action movie based on a popular cartoon.

There's no word on who might be directing although previous rumors have pegged the team of Andy Fickman and Dwayne Johnson possibly reuniting for the third time after the recent Race to Witch Mountain.

Kind of saw Lebeouf as Johnny. Harrison Ford should play Race and either Jonathan Franks, William Hurt, or John Hurt should be Dr. Quest. There's your movie Hollywood!

ok, so im getting kind of sick and tired of people hating on zac efron. all he did was take a role. it wasnt his fault that it became a hit. and if anyone remembers he was the only smart one from the movies that didnt do the damn ice skating tour. I firmly believe that if he gets a good script and some good smart people around him he could become a good actor.

Zac is 10 years too old. Jonny suppose to be 12. Why don't they just get Eddie Murphy to play a 12yr white boy? Why even mention Jonny Quest if its not going to be anything like the original?

Zac should play Tuxedo Mask in a live rendition of Sailor Moon, starring Hayden Penettiere as Venus, Emma Stone as Jupiter, Ellen Page as Mercury and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mars (Sailor Moon would be a new casting stunt)
