Neeson and Fiennes to Clash in Titans

April 9, 2009

Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will play warring gods in Warner Bros. and Legendary's Clash of the Titans, the Greek-god epic directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), says The Hollywood Reporter.

Neeson is playing Zeus, the wise yet sometimes ill-tempered king of the gods and father of Perseus (Sam Worthington).

Fiennes will play Hades, ruler of the underworld who aims to overtake Zeus and rule over all. Fiennes' deal is in still in negotiations.

The two actors join Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos in the production, which begins shooting later this month in the U.K.

Though I am glad to hear that they signed a quality actor as king of the gods, it is surprising to know that Neeson will work so shortly after his wife's death.

Man this cast sounds great. I expect both Neeson and Fiennes to do some good acting in this one. I don't know much about the project, but it sounds pretty cool.

VERY NICE! The only other person I'd love to see do Hades (again) is James Woods.

I'm interested in this, since I loved the original when I was younger and still will throw in the DvD once in a while as a guilty pleasure... BUT how much are they going to stray from the original? From what I've read so far, seems like a lot. That kind of worries me- take a classic title, some familiar characters, make a new movie about it and run to the bank. Latest Friday the 13th, etc anybody?
