Sony Pictures will adapt the popular PlayStation 2 title "Shadow of the Colossus" into a big screen action film, with Justin Marks writing the screenplay and Kevin Misher in negotiations to produce, says Variety.

"Colossus," which was released exclusively on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, revolves around a man named Wander who must travel across a cursed wasteland and defeat 16 creatures, known as the colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl.

The project, which proved a big seller for PlayStation and was produced internally by Sony Computer Entertainment, will build upon the video game's fantasy setting of a solitary world with few characters other than the 16 enemies.

This shouldn't be made into a film adaptation.
The game was great on it's own, and I think it's a downgrade to be on film if done right, and knowing this won't be done right it will be utter garbage.

There is a slight possibility, this film will be good. I don't think SONY will let someone ruin this franchise.

SONY realise this is a big venture and need to take it seriously.

If executed properly it could turn out to be an amazing film!

I just hope they don't chicken out and make a small project!

SONY, we are counting on you!

Guillermo Del Toro or Ridley Scott could make this a great film. As long as they hire someone with vision and don't try to turn it into some big action blockbuster. Honour the tone of the game and it could be sick!

This is me and my brother's favorite game EVER! This could be good, this could be terribly bad, depending on the director. If they stick to the game, this could be one of the best love stories ever told.

This movie is doomed from the beginning. Justin Marks was a writer for The Legend of Chun-Li....

This movie will be epic and awesome... if done properly. Not really caring about the writers anyways, it's Capcom's fault( and also 'that guy who directed Romeo Must Die') that Chun Li suck. They didn't stay true to the game and took out what make Street Fighter what it is, the iconic costumes/looks and most importantly.. the FUN! Street Fighter lives and die on the hands of the fans. but Shadow seems more like a standalone product/title. The game has a basic storyline anyways. What made it interesting is the battle with the colossal creatures. It's always a spectacle to see. Hopefully they'll get it right. *cross figers*

I just creamed in my pants. Than I read past the title and now I'm ashamed. I wanted to adopt this game like an adorable Asian baby, but now someone else is going to steal it and force it to make shoes. I don't know what I'm saying but I know what I'm feeling. This could be a great film, but they are going to ruin it. It's going to be dialog heavy and cheesy I can feel it. I'd like it to almost be a silent film, cause that's how the game was. Oh well.

sweet this can be pulled of if they get Guillermo Del Toro to direct because every time I play the game I think of his work on hell boy and pans labyrinth, he just knows how to pull off the mythic look of fantasy and it would be good only if Hollywood puts more money effort as well as directors and writers on video game movies for them to succeed.

WHAT? SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS THE MOVIE?!
As a PS fan, I love that game more than any other, and now this!
No, I don't admire this, Sony must go on with Metal Gear Solid adaptation.
