Sylvester Stallone is currently filming action-adventure The Expendables in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and we've got 28 photos of the writer/director/star filming as well as Jason Statham on the set. The scene that was filmed features the 62-year-old running down a pier with a hand gun and jumping off the end.

Co-starring Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Charisma Carpenter and Giselle Itie, the Lionsgate release is coming to theaters on April 23, 2010. It follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.

You can also follow unit publicist Sheryl Main on Twitter as she updates from the shoot. Sly on the page said that for this scene, he "had to chase a seaplane along a pier and jump inside which was like running headlong into hurricane Katrina."

I personally think this is going to be a good movie that is going to make tons of money on its opening weekend. Maybe the makings of Fast & Furious. Not only are 30+ males going to flock to this, but the action and "manpower" of this flick is going to draw the younger crowd. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
And by the way, I absolutely agree with you @Kenny F'n Powers. Very sad to see Arny in the condition he is now.

It's great that the 80's are gone but you can't tell that to stallone. He's gonna be a fcken action star and there ain't nothing anyone can do about it.

This movie is probably going to be absolutely ridiculous, and all the better for it. Sly is a really smart guy and knows how to pull off something like this. Can't wait.

Looks good. This movie has a dream action cast. Maybe it will restore Jason Statham's credibility?
