Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired Dumped, a comedy Vic Levin will adapt as a star vehicle for Steve Carell based on a novel by Andrew Gottlieb, reports Variety.

Carell would play a man searching for new meaning in his life after his wife abruptly files for divorce.

Carell and his Carousel Production partners Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock would produce.

Carell next stars with Tina Fey in the Shawn Levy-directed Fox comedy Date Night, and he is expected to next reprise his Maxwell Smart role in a Pete Segal-directed Get Smart sequel for WB next spring.

I'm not loving Steve Carell as much as his earlier seasons of The Office. I loved 40 year old virgin and Get Smart to me was a fun comedy. He needs more roles in movies.

Don't forget Little Miss Sunshine. He was excellent in that as well.

Steve Carell is amazingly funny. I actually hope this movie wont be a dry dark movie like Little Miss Sunshine and Dan in Real Life. Those movies, although good stories and well acted, are boring. Carell is better in over the top comedy like Anchorman and 40 Year Old Virgin.

He was phenomenal in Evan Almighty. A directorial masterpiece with amazing plot and a great ending to show the relevance of humanity on the rest of the world. I would welcome a sequel. He needs to focus on his acting ability however- he's stiff and his speaking skills need practice. Keep going Steve, you'll get it right with a little more practice.
