Robinson Directing Miley Cyrus' Last Song

Disney has set Julie Anne Robinson to make her feature directing debut on The Last Song, a Miley Cyrus starrer that will begin production in June, says Variety.

The film is a Nicholas Sparks-scripted adaptation of a novel Sparks wrote specifically to turn into a vehicle for the "Hannah Montana" star.

Disney-based Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing; Tish Cyrus is executive producer.

Cyrus will play a rebellious teenager sent to spend the summer with her estranged father.

Sparks' novel will be published by Grand Central in the fall.

I have a sister who is a Hannah Montanna fan so I've actually seen a few minutes of the show and from what I've seen of Miley Cyrus the girl can not act. There was this one scene where she was suppose to be sad or something and I can't remember when was the last time I had laughed so hard. I won't be seeing in the Hannah Montanna movie and I won't be seeing this either.

I agree with K.M.A. this movie will be a good vehicle to allow Miley to prove her acting abilities. As far as the comments from the rest - get a life! She is a kid & her show is for kids & even so, she has a great comedic ability. Miley & Emily are like Lucy & Ethel from I Love Lucy - great comedy. I think if any of you others are adults making sleezy comments like above - you ought to grow up & stay away from commenting about this young girl or any of the other young stars. Personally, I like Miley - I think she is refreshing & honest & amazingly talented as a singer & actress. My kids & nieces & nephews love her!

If only it were literally her "Last Song"...

One can see where this is going, just like any other Disney movie. Probably very similar to Lizzy McGuire movies, but more up to date with the 09' fashion and styles. Yup, sounds about right.

Remember what Thumper's Mother said! If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Miley is still a young girl, and yes she has a lot to learn. Give her a chance. Everyone has to learn a job before they can do it well. How well are you with the degrading comments doing on your jobs?

This will make it or break it for Miley. This will go to show how she really does act outside of the kiddy show. Honestly I think she's going to break it, but I'm gonna try to give her a chance. She's getting too old to stay with Disney much longer, so if she screws this up, it could be the end of the road for her. One thing is for sure though, girlfriend can't sing to save her life.
