Marvel Entertainment is Hiring Writers

Source:Variety
March 27, 2009

Marvel Entertainment is readying to assemble a group of writers who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, reports Variety.

Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books.

The trade adds that the company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see in its future film slate.

The gathering of screenwriters will help Marvel come up with creative ways to launch its lesser-known properties, such as Black Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk and Vision.

So far, it has focused its efforts on more popular superheroes like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America.

A group of Marvel executives will choose the writers, with the final decision made by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio's president of production.

Terms call for Marvel to own whatever the writers work on during the year. Company has the option to continue a relationship with the writers after that period.

Inserting Vision (the character that is) into the MMU (Marvel Movie Universe) wouldnt be difficult. Do it in an Avengers sequel (assuming the first is a success and we get more). He was introduced in the Avengers comic, so he should be introuces in an Avengers movie. Course you'd have to introduce Ultron first.

Cripes I sounded geekish there. Not sure if I should be proud or a little worried.

to xexkxex, i dont think he was aiming that post toward anyone in this thread. its just a general statement for everyone that always seem to complain about every detail that hollywood screws up in a comic book movie. people claim all the time what they would have done or how poorly a certain movie is being made. the one coz is simply saying that instead of continuing their complaints, they should at least try to take advantage of this opportunity.

Cable should be attached to the X-Men universe, possibly another X-Men Origins installment?

Or Should X-Force be involved as well? What about an X-Factor movie. Depending on which version that would probabaly be somewhat similiar to the Watchmen theme where heroes and villains are out in the open, but in this case mutants.

is this on marvels website? I am curious. I dont see it, but if this is a fair topic to release to the public. I would really like to know where i can send my application and ideas. Any help on that CS? I can only assume that its a released statement to make fanboys happy and think they have a shot if no further information is given. Anyway, As far as the first commentor goes. I say good comment. If this is an actual thing marvel plans on doing. Everyone who thinks they could go better than hollywood(not saying you couldn't) should throw their two cents in. What could it hurt.

xexkxex, its really not a big deal but just to clarify - I did not reply to any previous post! When I posted there were no other posts here. In my post I was talking in general to anyone who reads it. Did you see my 2nd post saying 'maybe not...' was exactly correct? You were mistaken thinking I was talking to someone else when I wasn't. No need to worry we all make mistakes.
