i wish the academy understood that nobody thinks their credible anymore. its all a stylized mess, and no one really gives a crap about what they think are the best movies of the year, because they are biased pricks. Screw the academy and screw the oscars.

My pick is the oscar race will be between Avatar and Public Enemies.

Or Eastwood's rugby movie.

If another crappy indie style movie like Slumdog Millionaire wins again think I'll switch off too.

Last good film to win was The Departed.

Remember in the 90s and early 2000s when they used to give awards to films all ages of people actually went to see - Titanic, Schindler's List, Lord of the Rings, Forest Gump, Braveheart.

Those were the real Oscars.

LOTR wasn't released in the 90's
Basically, the entire process has lost all credibility for me because The Dark Knight fit all the criteria for a best film WINNER, but wasn't even nominated because it was a comic book/ action film.
Recently they've been leaning more towards arthouse films that only the hollywood elite would want to see. It's an exclusive little club they have going on.
The awards show was the only thing that salvaged it, but there were so many production flubs this year that really, most of the appeal is gone.
Any word on a host? Because that's what will make or break my interest in this.

Completely agree

Million Dollar Baby, Crash, No Country For Old Men, Slumdog, - those are a lot of 'winners' I wouldn't want to watch more than once. Watching them once was bad enough.

Respect and interest might have got back on track if Dark Knight actually won this year. Just hope a big glossy mainstream blockbuster picture like Avatar sweeps up next year.

Think Billy Crystal is returning to host next year, at least that's a good start.

I always thought Steve Martin was a great host, Hugh Jackman was actually pretty good too. But if I could pick one host from the past to return...it would def be Conan Obrian.
