Summit Entertainment has debuted this second teaser trailer for Astro Boy, coming to theaters on October 23. Directed by David Bowers, the CG-animated big screen adaptation features the voices of Freddie Highmore, Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucus and Donald Sutherland.

Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma (Cage). Powered by positive "blue" energy, Astro Boy (Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.

Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a hero.

It was always for kids, so the only ones griping about this would have to be 40 and 50 year olds that grew up when it was first out.

Props to them for keeping in touch with the original art style. I wasn't sold on this movie at first, but now it looks like it'll be a good movie.

@ Bounce for the Ounce

Allow me clarify--I meant the TRAILER looked like a kiddie version of the Iron Man trailer...And I'd say the two trailers are comparable. If you analyze both trailers, you'll note a lot of vast similarities. It's like watching an animated version of the Iron Man movie trailer.

In any case, I'll admit I'm not as familiar with Astro Boy as I am with Marvel properties, but I do respect Tezuka's work, being a fan of the Phoenix stories. I think he's a brilliant writer, and in those stories, does a successful job of ironically blending the innocence of his artwork with the maturity of his writing. I'm assuming Astro Boy must be of a similar style. If so, let's hope the filmmakers can do Tezuka's writing justice
