Segal the Frontrunner to Direct Little Fockers

Variety reports that Pete Segal (The Longest Yard, 50 First Dates) has emerged as the frontrunner to direct Little Fockers, the third installment in the Universal Pictures/Tribeca Productions franchise.

Segal was expecting to return as the director of Get Smart 2 this year but became available when Steve Carell instead made a deal to team with Tina Fey in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy Date Night for Fox.

John Hamburg wrote the third installment. It is the first in the series (Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers) not to be directed by Jay Roach.

Universal will get the film into production later this year.

So is he doing Get Smart 2?!? Will it have to wait until after Segal's done with Little Fockers and Carrell with Date Night.

But, gonna miss Jay Roach.

This is really good news. I like Pete Segal. I'm glad he's doing this first before Get Smart 2. Get Smart is good but I've been looking forward to this since the end of Meet the Fockers. I just wish it didn't take forever to get these movies off the ground. There is such a long time between films.

I thought the first two were great, but with segal directing, there's a good chance this'll suck. O well...we can only hope for the best

Damn when I read the headline I thought they meant Jason Segal. Anything he is a part of is comic gold.
