Alice Braga, Mickey Rourke and Vincent Cassel are set to star in 11 Minutes, an adaptation of the steamy Paulo Coehlo novel that will be directed by Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now), says Variety.

Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari is producing, with Craig J. Flores and George Waud as executive producers. Shooting begins June 1 in Brazil and Geneva.

Braga plays a naive girl who is betrayed by her first lover and swears off romance. She becomes a high-priced call girl who works at an upscale gentlemen's club in Geneva. Cassel plays a music executive who gets her hooked on S&M. Rourke plays the club owner.

Italian heartthrob Riccardo Scamarcio is in talks to round out the cast.

Abu-Assad has rewritten a script by Marcos Bernstein.

Having Cassel in more movies is always great. And Mickey Rourke too, of course.

Hopefully not another of the crappy "erotic thrillers" that Mickey did on his first trip down has-been boulevard...
I'd rather see him do more interesting roles than "seedy club owner."

This movie will be an utter disaster. Rourke needs to stay away from garbage like this, it'll ruin his comeback.

Sounds like an average movie in which is probably only playing a small part in which he is only doing to cash in(for he has been broke for a long time). I really hope he does sin city 2 and iron man 2 though.

You guys don't seem to have any idea who Paulo Coelho is, and his work? He's one of the most widely read writers and considered one of the greatest and most influential writers of today. His books are amazing.

Mickey rourke needs top bill in his art films, and characters with content that is meaningful to him.

I'll go see Rourke in the Expendables instead! I think he should stick to action movies this is where his acting skills shine. Hopefully he doesnt sign on for a comedy next.

I didn't know they were going to make this book a movie. For the ignorants who are saying it sounds like crap, please do yourselves a favor and read the book. It is an amazing book.
