Warner Bros. Brings Together Suicide Squad

Warner Bros. Pictures has set up the DC Comics property Suicide Squad for Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) to produce as a potential franchise.

In a departure from normal comic-based fare, Suicide Squad concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987.

Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will co-produce. Justin Marks (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Hack/Slash) is penning the screenplay.

Suicide Squad will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. The historically independent operators must bury their own interpersonal conflicts and agendas to form a cohesive unit to take on a singular task.

this will never get made. they keep on anouncing dc comics adaptations and never make em. they just stick to superman and batman. i wouldnt be surprised if they canceled the release date of green lantern (DEC. 17 2010. oh yeah, and i think batman 3 will be released in 2012, judging by nolan's schedule (he's making inception next, it's basically memento but with a bigger budget and action scenes.

For this to work they need to go with the mid 90's run with Superboy & King Shark. If they can set that up then it will be a long lasting run.

Didnt I see this in an episode of Justice League Unlimited? What was it, Task Force X i think? It was a cleverly written episode. Who knows, it might do well on the screen.

This film could work really well. I didn't know much of the Suicide Squad, but the idea of super-VILLAINS save the day could make a great movie, maybe even a great TV series.

Though it does sould ALOT like Secret Six, which is an AWESOME comic!

Wait a minute, does that cover picture have Deadshot in it? It does, Holy crap!

hmm Secret Six would have been cooler as a whole villain perspective movie but anything with Deadshot should be cool if done right.

more comic movies is just better for us.

Secret Six owes a lot to the Suicide Squad which came out years before.

To be honest, a Suicide Squad movie would be much better received after that talked about Green Arrow: SuperMax movie about Ollie in a supervillain prison. A potential spin-off that DC needs to consider quite a bit.
