Jackson Signs Nine-Picture Deal to Play Nick Fury!

Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and potentially many other films.

Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit S.H.I.E.L.D. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, toplining a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and potential sequels.

Jackson introduced Fury in the closing moments of Iron Man, when the character asked Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to join his group.

Good thing they worked it out. Now lets get Rourke on board for Iron Man 2 and get the Hulk sequel rolling.

Nice. Last I heard it was looking unlikely he would return in The Avengers film. Looks like that rumor has been squashed.

Oh thank the lord, I was afraid that we would get saddled with Forrest Whittaker; not to say he's a bad actor, I just assume that he would be the next actor they would go to and he's not a good fit for the character.

Thats awesome news!! I believe continuity is key in starting multiple franchises with a character that could literally pop up anywhere......I know this has been said over and over again but I was dissapointed they let Terrance Howard fall to the way side (even though he was the weakest part of the 1st and Don Cheadle is a waaaaaayyyyyy better actor) just becuase it breaks just a little bit of character continuity. At least they knew better not to screw it up with Sam Jack.

Way to get something good done marvel....now if they can just secure Mickey Rourke as a villan......

ehhh! I wouldn't have cared at all if they replaced him. I like Samuel Jackson, but I don't think he can bring the "dignified old soilder" that the character is.

But he is basically planning the "ultimate" version so 616 thoughts of Fury don't really apply.
